New Eyes for the Needy

Checking Eyes. Bringing Smiles.

It’s not always easy to get an eye exam. For those in financial need, it can be an almost impossible feat. Even for those who have Medicaid and traditional Medicare, it can be difficult to find a doctor who accepts those insurances. Or don’t have access to transportation to get to the doctor’s office. Working families with parents who have two, three or four jobs, can’t get themselves or their children to the doctor on a 9 to 5, Monday through Friday schedule. These people fall through the cracks and don’t get the eye care they need to see clearly to improve their lives.

Enter New Eyes.

On Saturday, October 19th, New Eyes held a vision clinic at our facility in Short Hills, NJ. In partnership with the New Jersey Commission for the Blind, we enabled 30 local children and adults eye exams and new eyeglasses over a four hour period.

This was our third clinic over the past year helping over 100 individuals get eye exams and glasses. We are happy to address this hidden need in our community and plan to offer more in the coming (very optical) year of 2020. #20/20for2020

Leading up to last weekend's vision clinic, CBS New York visited our Short Hills office, and we made an appearance in their studios.  Watch CBS NY's coverage here: https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2019/10/17/new-jersey-volunteers-eye-glasses/
