Who We Are

Vision Statement

Empower children and adults in the United States and overseas with the improved vision they need to pursue a better quality of life for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Our New Eyeglasses Program

New Eyes purchases basic prescription eyeglasses for people in need in the U.S. through a well-established voucher program. Social service agencies and other health advocates apply online on their client’s behalf. If the applicant is approved for our program, glasses are ordered online through New Eyes optical dispenser partner. Eligible clients can apply to our program through a social service agency, welfare worker or a school nurse.

In 2019-20, in partnership with social service agencies across the country and within the optical industry, New Eyes helped over 18,000 disadvantaged U.S. residents purchase the eyeglasses they needed but could not afford.

Mission Statement

New Eyes purchases new prescription eyeglasses for children and adults in the United States who cannot afford glasses on their own. New Eyes accepts manufacturer’s new eyewear stock for distribution to the poor in developing countries through mission partners.

Our Volunteers

Volunteers are an integral part of New Eyes. They acknowledge the generous donations of jewelry and giftware from people all over the country. They operate the Fabulous Finds Jewelry & Giftware Boutique that helps pay for eyeglasses for poor U.S. residents. They provide administrative support for our staff so that New Eyes’ resources are dedicated to services rather than administrative tasks. New Eyes is blessed with over 200 adult and 55 student volunteers. In addition, many civic, corporate and religious groups come to New Eyes to volunteer. Our volunteers are a diverse group: retirees, homemakers, and students; individuals and groups; volunteers who come for one day or 50 years. Each volunteer shares a genuine commitment to helping poor children and adults have a clearer and brighter future.
